This artwork is inspired by the Dreaming story Emu in the Sky. The significance of the Emu for Aboriginal peoples is that they were creator spirits that soared through the skies above looking over the land and were incredibly helpful. For us, it is a reminder to always look out for one another and help each other whenever we can. This artwork relates to reconciliation as we can all learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and histories as we live together, under one sky.
Reconciliation Means…
All Australians celebrate and learn more about our Indigenous history and culture. It’s an opportunity to think about what we can change and do better in the future. Reconciliation is about learning about our shared history and culture. It is important to me because everyone should be treated with respect and equally.
