Avalon Public School

The chevron background in our artwork represents the Avalon ocean and shows how we are all moving forward together toward a united nation. Whales are very important to the Garigal people, who are the original people of our area. When the whales passed our shores twice a year, it told the Garigal people that the wattle flowers were blooming. The traveling whale in our artwork stands for the theme “Now More Than Ever,” reminding us that we need to keep moving forward as one nation.

Reconciliation means…

We need to be mindful of our First Nations People and continue recognising their amazing culture and traditions. We are grateful that we get to learn about what they did for our land and how they are always leading the way for others in how to respect it.
