The dots represent the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader Australian community and the squares are
the many different groups of our society. While there are many groups, different sizes & different colours, the people all have a voice, a place and an important role to play in shaping our future.
Reconciliation through this artwork is depicted by the many groups, different sizes & different colours, coming together forming respectful and equitable relationships.
It relates to Our Voices, Our Future through our joint effort of eight Indigenous students, boys & girls from different year groups, coming together and creating an artwork that celebrates their involvement, to actively speak up and encourage other Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander peoples and the broader Australian community to contribute to the future voices of reconciliation.
Reconciliation means… A journey of truth telling and acknowledging Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples Of this land and recognising that these peoples were dispossessed, persecuted & oppressed as a result of colonisation in Australia. Along with developing our understanding of how these histories continue to shape contemporary Australia society & ensuring that Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are treated with dignity & respect at all times.
